Why We Protect Rainforests
Over half of the world’s rainforests have been destroyed, and almost 70,000 acres more are lost every day. If current rates of deforestation continue, all of our planet’s original rainforest could be lost within decades, resulting in mass extinctions and accelerated climate change.
We're here to protect rainforests across the globe. We do this by making environmental support instilled into purchases people make everyday. You can get a pair of sunglasses anywhere in the world, or you can get a pair of sunglasses from us and make the world a better place. We believe the choice is simple.
Meet Our Partner, Rainforest Trust
For every product purchased from 2050, an additional acre of the rainforest is protected. We have partnered with Rainforest Trust to make this impact happen. Rainforest Trust purchases and protects the most threatened tropical forests, saving endangered wildlife through partnerships and community engagement. Rainforest Trust ensures long-term sustainable protection by garnering the ongoing support and participation from local communities.
When local communities buy in to habitat protection, conservative efforts are more effective and efficient. Their projects include developing sustainable economic opportunities, including training as guards, guides and wildlife monitors. But they also include helping the communities in other not so direct ways, like improving education and health facilities, teaching new farming or cooking techniques and in some cases providing new sources of drinking water. And often, local communities lead the conservation process themselves by creating community-run reserves. Logging and mining also threaten indigenous community security. But if communities have legal rights to their land, they can stop deforestation before it occurs. So some of their projects work to help indigenous communities gain official recognition.
Operating for over 30 years, this organization has saved over 23 million acres of rainforest. At 2050, we are happy to help them any way we can.
